EAST LA GETS TOGETHER FOR CHANGE

This past Saturday, there was a meeting for parents in East Los Angeles to get clarity on the Public School Choice Resolution and it's process. There are many ridiculous myths and rumors that have been spread out in the community, and the parents in attendance clearly appreciated the chance to find out what is actually going on with the schools in their community. As we discussed inthe meeting, Superintendent Cortines and a committee of people whom he chose are still working on the criteria for any proposals that will be presented, and it's important that parents have accurate information so that they can be involved and engaged in the process.

The Catholic Charities Hall was packed with parents who were all very interested in using the resolution to help transform Garfield, and many asked what they can do to make sure that this resolution does become a reality and that parents be part of the process. The parents in attendance were excited about the opportunity for change, and committed to bring other parents they know into the process and get engaged in this fight. It's an honor to stand with so many other parents in the fight for better opportunities for all of our children.
